Adam Lambert Concert

Picture
The blue lights go dark, and the room becomes a sea, roaring with cheers and shouts. People of all ages, here to see the concert, are on their feet. Even though it is only the opening acts, the crowd is wild. The name "Allison Iraheta" flashes across the screen at the back of the theater. Music blasts from the speakers as the live band plays and Allison Iraheta runs out onto the stage, her signature red hair flying up behind her.

Last Thursday night I went to one of the most amazing concerts of my life. It was the Adam Lambert concert at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Adam's opening acts were Allison Iraheta, who starred on season 9 of American Idol with Adam and came in 4th place, and Orianthi, an Aussie guitar player and rock singer, who performed as an opening act. Allison sang first, soon being joined by Orianthi in their hit duet, "Don't Waste The Pretty". Later, Orianthi performed solo.

The lights go out once again, and we are on our feet. "Woo hoo! Orianthi!" The smoke that has been steadily pouring out of a machine on the side of the stage has now risen enough for me to smell. The fumes plus the immense amounts of adrenaline coursing through my body make for an exciting feeling. I feel shivers up and down my spine. "I'm really going to see Adam Lambert!!" I think. The sound of someone professionally shredding a guitar cuts through the thick air. I scream, once again ecstatic, for at that moment a high voice joins the hard rock music, and the concert continues. And all I can think is "He's next!"

Although the opening acts were great, they were nothing compared to the main event. The lights, the band, the dancers, and then Adam emerged. Standing at the top of the stairs, he was breathtaking in a large coat and top hat. His concert began with his two original tunes, "Voo Doo" and "Rabbit Hole". From there, he sang almost each of the songs of of his album, For Your Entertainment (review under Reviews > Music). From his heartbreaking original, "Soaked", during which the crowd went completely silent, to his electric songs "Fever", "Sure Fire Winners", and his #1 hit single "If I Had You".  During the steamy song "Strut", he and his dancers pulled out canes and "strutted" their stuff.  He also sang a beautiful, acoustic version of "Whataya Want From Me", another hit single. The encore was the fun, upbeat tune "20th Century Boy".

His picture flashes across the screen, and the fans are even louder than they were for the first two acts. It isn't even the real man! And even though I don't understand it myself, I'm shouting even louder than ever before. And we are plunged into darkness. "Adam! Adam! Adam! Adam! Adam!" And he's there. I don't know the song he's singing, but I clap my hands and shout anyway. The yells are earsplitting, and room vibrates with sound. My head spins and I feel dizzy. I see the dancers and  hear the bass and his voice and I love it. And I think "Wow. This is the best night of my life!"

As I said, the night of the Adam Lambert concert was the best night of my life. I cried when it was over, and I felt electric. People streamed out of the theater in a daze, and I see many older couples, a few 6 year old girls, and people of all ages in between. I exited the building, and saw a lady in her 70's with some paramedics. Apparently she was over heated or dehydrated or something. Unfortunately, from around the corner a girl came running, yelling that her best friend had passed out. I never found out why. This concert made the best night of my life. All thanks to Adam Lambert.

The Jonas Brothers Concert

Picture
Hershey, PA, on Saturday, August 14, 2010- The lights, the music, the brothers! The Jonas Brothers concert was the best concert I've been to in a while. The opening acts were the cast of Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, playing music from the upcoming movie, which premieres on Disney Channel, September 3, 2010 at 8/7 central. Actress and singer Alyson Stoner, who plays friend Caitlyn Geller in the movie, sings her on-screen solo "Make History". The dancers in this cast are exceptional. Later, America's superstar Demi Lovato takes the stage. She performs songs off of her first original CD "Don't Forget" and is then joined by the rest of the cast to sing some more songs from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, including "Brand New Day", "It's On", and "Can't Back Down".

Now, for the main event! The Jonas Brothers take the stage, and the whole room is so loud you can barely hear yourself think. Everyone screamed, from the teenage girls, to mothers, here with their daughters for the show. Joe looked great in his sleeveless hoodie, and Nick rocked a bandanna. Kevin shredded his guitar throughout the whole concert, barely breaking a sweat! They performed lyrics off of each CD, even those from Camp Rocks 1 & 2! Demi took the stage once more to sing "This Is Me" and "Wouldn't Change a Thing", a duet with Joe Jonas. During "Please Be Mine", a ballad off of their first CD, It's About Time, they showed pictures of themselves as children on a large screen behind them. It was a very moving performance. One of my favorite parts was when one of the brothers would point their microphones into the crowd, implying that they would like the crowd to sing. I think it sounds great, like the crowd came together as a fourth Jonas Brother. Some songs, like "Paranoid", "Hold On", and "When You Look Me In The Eyes", were so popular, you could hear the crowd's voice singing above the brothers'. It was a truly amazing concert, and it made it so much better that the brothers were extremely humble, thanking their fans for all of their support. It was a really incredible concert!
