So, Season 10 is quickly approaching, auditions for the next season are being held, and Idol has not found the "perfect panel" of replacements for former judges Simon Cowell, Kara Dioguardi, and Ellen DeGeneres.

Yesterday, at 7:11 p.m., word leaked that the soul survivor of the Idol judge "wipe-out", Randy Jackson, was nearly fired.  The show was looking for a completely new panel of judges , but decided to keep a tie to the original judges through Jackson.

The only thing we know for certain concerning the "Who"s of the Idol judge mystery is that Jennifer Lopez is going to replace DeGeneres on the panel. Lopez, singer and actress, has had it rough the past couple of months, with a failed movie and the loss of a record deal. Sources say that Lopez's agent set up a meeting withIdol about a month ago, and that the deal was just closed in the past few days.

Former executive producer Nigel Lythgoe returned to Idol in the hopes of saving the show from potential disaster. Lythgoe has always preferred a panel of three instead of four, and plans to bring down the number by not replacing Dioguardi.

This leaves us with a replacement for the beloved Simon Cowell. Cowell has always been thought of as the heart and soul of the show, and many believe that Idol will be a disaster without him. The replacement of this judge will be crucial, as this ultimately decides the popularity, and the fate, of the show. The first celebrity asked was Elton John, the extremely famous musician. Everyone at the show thought bringing this top-notch celebrity to the program would have ratings sky-high. The only problem was John asked for too much money and he had tour deals he just couldn't get out of. Recently, an offer for Cowell's seat of honer has been offered to Steven Tyler, front-man in the band Areosmith. Nothing permanent has been decided on this matter yet.
